Marilyn Martorano, B.A., M.A., R.P.A.

Marilyn joined RMC in May 2001 as Manager for the Cultural Resources Division. Since 1977 she has experience and work history in prehistoric, historic and ethnohistoric cultural resource management and planning.

|
Marilyn has conducted archaeological work at the Great Sand Dunes National Monument and Preserve since 1976; the resulting data has provided a baseline of knowledge about the prehistoric and historic settlement and subsistence of high altitude, south-central Colorado areas.

Previously, Marilyn worked in environmental consulting as an Archaeologist and Cultural Resources Division Manager.
|
Her work history has included historic and prehistoric surveys; historic, prehistoric and ethnohistoric National Register of Historic Places evaluations and nominations; site condition assessments and testing; dendrochronological analyses; numerous reports and professional papers; and Native American consultation.
Marilyn's expertise includes cultural and natural resources NEPA compliance, EIS/EA planning, National Historic Preservation Act compliance, federal contract management, public involvement/outreach, Class I overviews, Class II and III surveys, historic archival research and oral histories, historic archaeological documentation and assessments, site monitoring, test excavations, and data recovery/mitigation..
Marilyn holds an M.A. in Anthropology from the Colorado State University, Fort Collins, and a B.A. in Anthropology from Adams State College, Alamosa, Colorado. She is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) and is the ethics coordinator and a voting member of the Colorado Council of Professional Archaeologists.
Marilyn has completed 40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Site Health and Safety Training, and an 8-hour OSHA Refresher Course and Supervisor Training.
